The "AI" did not change culture and it's still unprofitable

11 years ago we started with "AI"

Where is the photoshop competitor? Where is the Microsoft Windows competitor? Everyone still uses Linux and to a lesser intent GIMP.

Where is the new Amazon or Google brought to you by "AI"?

I mean seariously I'm having a hard time grasping what in the world changed due to "AI". Yes we have a lot of misinformation and fake media. Yes a lot of money went into the construction of the data centers. But where do we see the result of the product?

Coca Cola is not the largest company in the world. But yet we see the product and the brand everywhere.

Yes the culture did change and we all hate the slop etc etc but I really wonder "where the fuck is something tangible which was changed or created by so called AI?"

There is character.ai/ But let's be honest that's not really much differnt from the chat roulette we had before.

There are chatbots on many websites. I just tried using one today and it was 100 % broken and unusable

is it perhaps people are chatting/searching with the LLM and there are ads around it? Is that how it makes money? Like google.com?

Because all I ever hear is chip manufacturers or electricians having a wave of sales due to the LLM companies. But outside that circular economy I am really grasping at straws.

Are phone bots really that helpful? Do companies get better sales or cheaper support or something? Because the last time a robot ansered my phone that company lost my business

Everyday at work I use an Anthropic Claude Premium Seat. And I can't tell you for certain this is a good investment.

There is a real chance putting a fizzy drink next to me every day might create larger ROI for the company.

I really try to see the evicende and have an open mind but seriously the work seems to take the same fucking time. Due to LLM the work takes a different route bit there's like to measurable impact. I'm not the first one to say that the ROI of "AI" is "not noticable"

I can't tell you anything about it besides "yeah the premium seat has more tokens".

I only ever use Opus 4.8 I was informed last week there are newer models. Uh ok.

I do a lot of subagents, yolo mode, software orchestration and all that but it scratches a place which did not itch before. It's nice an all but if it were to vanish tomorrow I would not shed a tear.

I think I am at a weird spot where I do lots of impressive LLM stuff bit am not impressed myself

And I still think Apple does it exactly right: not betting on this sinking ship.

The smart thing is to not build your company around LLM. I said this least year and I am still saying it not using LLM is a competitve advantage

I'm not even an Apple stan.

Everytime I use their products I am flabberghasted on how some people believe this to be the peak of computing.

I am spoiled by having computers be really useful and predictable and stable (Linux)
